Jr. FIRST LEGO League

About the Program

JrFLL_LogoKids ages 6-9 participate in the Junior FIRST LEGO League (Jr.FLL). The program is designed to spark an interest in science and technology through hands on exploration.

Over the course of 15 weeks, children will work as a team to research a real world scientific problem. In the 2019-2020 season kids will explore an idea of their choosing related to the theme BOOMTOWN BUILD.

With the guidance of their coaches they will build an animated LEGO model of their research project using LEGO bricks, battery powered motors and gears. They will practice and develop presentation skills by creating a “Show Me Poster”.  Most of all they will have fun as they learn valuable real life science and engineering skills.

At the end of the program kids participate in an expo where they are given the opportunity to show off their hard work and earn awards in a number of categories.

The program encourages strong team work and character development by promoting the Jr.FLL Core Values:

  • We are a team.
  • We do the work. Our coaches and mentors help us learn, but we find the answers ourselves.
  • We share our experiences and discoveries with others.
  • We are helpful, kind, and show respect when we work, play, and share. We call this Gracious Professionalism.
  • We are all winners.
  • We have fun!
